Brief Description
The R&S®SMW200A is the
vector signal generator for
the most demanding
applications. As a result of
its flexibility, performance
and intuitive operation, it
is a perfect tool for
generating complex,
digitally modulated signals
of high quality.
The R&S®SMW200A is the ideal
generator for digitally
modulated signals required
for the development of new
wideband communications
systems, the verification of
3G and 4G base stations or
in the aerospace and defense
sector.
The I/Q modulation bandwidth
of up to 160 MHz with
internal baseband satisfies
fourth-generation standards
(e.g. LTE-Advanced and IEEE
802.11ac), and the
R&S®SMW200A is designed to
meet future requirements.
Its modular scalable
architecture allows users to
optimize the generator to
their applications and to
upgrade it as required.
A second RF path can be
added, as well as a maximum
of two baseband and four
fading simulator modules –
without compromising on
signal quality. As a result,
the R&S®SMW200A can create
signal scenarios that
previously required multiple
instruments or could not be
implemented at all. From
MIMO up to 8x2 to
LTE-Advanced carrier
aggregation including fading
– never before has an
instrument offered such
high-class signal generation
capability.
If more than two RF paths
are required, additional
R&S®SGS100A signal generator
modules can be connected.
The intuitive, touchscreen-based
operating concept provides
the user with an overview of
measurements, no matter how
complex, and quickly
delivers the desired
results.

kHz to 8 GHz (R&S®ZVA8), 10
MHz to 24/40/50/67/110 GHz
(R&S®ZVA24/40/50/67/110)
Brief Description
The R&S®ZVA series are
high-end VNAs with up to
four sources for
sophisticated measurements
up to 110 GHz. They are an
ideal choice for demanding
measurements on active and
passive components and
modules, which require high
performance and wide
versatility. The frequency
range of the high-frequency
models can be extended up to
500 GHz.
Instrument concept
The R&S®ZVA contains one
source for each pair of
ports (67 GHz has one source
per port). A special switch
arrangement allows parallel
signal output, i. e. signals
can be output to the DUT via
all ports at the same time.
In addition, direct
generator and receiver
access is provided
optionally. This concept
offers many advantages with
regard to measurement speed
and functionality.
The above design features
make the R&S®ZVA an analyzer
of unprecedented performance
and functionality, which is
especially true for the
four-port model. Following
are a few highlights:
●
Use of the second
source as an LO for fast
mixer measurements
●
Generation of a swept
two-tone signal for fast
intermodulation measurements
versus frequency or power
●
True differential
measurements on balanced
DUTs
Parallel signal output and
measurement at the test
ports for measuring two or
more DUTs simultaneously.
●
Direct generator /
receiver access (option)
enabling the following, for
example: Loop-in of
preamplifiers into generator
paths
●
Loop-in of
attenuators into the
receiver paths
●
Connection of
external test setups, e.g.
power amplifiers, or use of
analyzer as a multichannel
receiver, e.g. for antenna
measurements
Power Meters &
Voltmeters

Brief Description
Although audio signals are
mainly processed digitally
nowadays, analog technology
will remain a viable
alternative that is
continuously being enhanced.
Therefore, both analog and
digital measurements must be
performed. The R&S®UPV audio
analyzer is designed
precisely for this purpose.
The R&S®UPV enables users to
perform virtually all
measurements that are
necessary in the audio
world: frequency response
measurement, total harmonic
distortion (THD) displays,
spectral displays, analysis
of digital interfaces, and
much more. The generator is
just as versatile. It can be
used to create any
conceivable signal from
sinewave and noise signals
up to multi-sinewave
signals.
The R&S®UPV is an all-in-one
instrument with an
integrated control PC,
making it easy to transport.
Since the instrument comes
factory-ready, it merely
needs to be unpacked and
switched on before being put
into operation. Peripherals
are therefore not required.
Optional modules and
software expansions that can
be integrated into the
instrument
open up a broad scope of
further applications.
The R&S®UPV features an
intuitive user interface
(Windows XP operating
system). The large screen
plays a key role, not only
for displaying measurement
results. All settings are
made in panels that contain
all interrelated functions
and settings. Since the
operating philosophy is easy
to understand and since
analog and digital
measurements are performed
in a similar manner, users
can quickly master
instrument operation.
The instrument features
scalable graphical windows
that can be moved around on
the screen as needed,
providing all measurement
results at a glance. Results
can be displayed in realtime
for one or both channels and
can optionally be expanded
to a maximum of 16 channels.
Multiple measurement
functions/graphics are
available simultaneously.
For example, analyses in the
frequency and time domains
can be displayed at the same
time. With graphics, results
can be read off using
vertical and horizontal
cursors, and limit lines or
stored measurement results
can be superimposed on them
or compared with them.
